Ballytherm Insulation

Ballytherm has been acquired by Xtratherm

Ballytherm is a strong, rigid board-type insulation that is well suited for use in damp areas like basements, or any area where flame retardation is desirable, like between apartment units. The foil-faced, Polyisocyanurate (PIR) rigid board insulation is created via a continuous foaming process that creates a tight cell structure and an inseparable bond between the foil and board. The yellow foam insulation is faced with a company logo-embossed foil, is cut to order specifications and allowed to cure before delivery.

Dimensions

Ballytherm insulation board can be custom made up to 200mm thickness when requested, but comes in standard sizes that range from 2400mm by 1200mm and range between 25mm and 150mm in thickness. The standard boards are butt-edged, rebated, tongue and groove, and Bespoke sizes are also available upon request.

Appearance

Ballytherm insulation boards have a yellow foam core with laminated foil facings printed with the company logo.

Structural

Ballytherm is a strong, rigid board suitable for self-supporting applications in floors, walls and roofs.

It can withstand the loadings in groundbearing floors.

Thermal performace

The Polyisocyanurate (PIR) foam core of Ballytherm insulation boards has an extremely low thermal conductivity, making the required thickness of insulation less than for most other types of insulation and making it an ideal choice where you are restricted with depth. The foil laminate facings of Ballytherm boards also contribute to improved thermal performance and the low emissivity surface of the reflective foil can cut radiation heat transfer across an adjoining air space.

Fire Resistance

In the event of fire, Ballytherm insulation boards will remain stable at temperatures up to 400ºC and has achieved Class 1 surface spread of flame. If temperatures reach higher than 400ºC, a protective char forms on the surface on the boards to slow the spread of flames. Ballytherm insulation board may be used safely behind non-flammable materials such as plasterboard.

Environmental Impact

Ballytherm insulation boards have a low thermal conductivity, which means less of the product is needed to achieve the desired thermal resistance and the tight-cell, rigid construction is designed for longevity. The insulation boards are also produced with a zero ozone depletion blowing agent.

Biological and Moisture Resistance

Ballytherm is created to be mould, pest and insect free and the boards will never rot. The foam boards have a low moisture absorption capacity and high vapour resistance.

Durability

The strong, rigid construction of Ballytherm insulation boards gives it the ability to withstand the weight of load-bearing floors. When the product is installed according to manufacturer’s specifications and industry codes of practice, the insulation boards have a service life comparable to that of the rest of the building.

Immerse yourself in a world where unparalleled thermal performance meets high-quality insulation with the Ballytherm Insulation range available at Insulation4Less. Ballytherm is known for delivering top-notch insulation solutions, ensuring that your spaces are energy-efficient, comfortable, and sustainably insulated. Below, explore the types and uses of products in the Ballytherm category and find guidance on selecting the ideal product for your specific insulation needs.

Practical Applications and Uses

Superior Wall Insulation

Regardless of the chosen product dimensions, Ballytherm insulation boards are designed to deliver exemplary wall insulation, adeptly preventing thermal bridging and ensuring the internal environment remains temperate and comfortable. The rigid polyisocyanurate (PIR) foam, encapsulated by low emissivity foil facings, enhances thermal performance, making it a stellar choice for wall applications.

Floor and Roof Insulation Excellence

Ballytherm insulation products also stand out for their efficacy in providing high-quality floor and roof insulation. Not only do they help in maintaining a stable indoor environment, but they also contribute significantly to reducing energy bills by preventing unnecessary heat loss through the building’s extremities.

Varied Thickness for Unique Requirements

Ballytherm insulation boards are available in different thicknesses to meet varied thermal resistance (R-value) needs. Thicker boards generally provide higher R-values, making them more effective at reducing heat flow. Your choice in thickness should be influenced by the specific thermal requirements of your project, ensuring compliance with building regulations and achieving desired energy efficiency levels.

Guidance on Selection

When selecting Ballytherm insulation, consider the following:

  • Application Area: Identify whether the insulation is for walls, floors, or roofs and select the product with dimensions that offer optimal coverage and ease of installation.
  • Thermal Performance: Ensure the chosen thickness adherates to your project’s thermal performance requirements.
  • Size and Scale: Consider the size and scale of your project. Opt for larger boards for expansive areas to minimise joints and enhance thermal continuity.
